Recruitment

Recruitment covers the process of attracting, screening and selecting potential candidates to become employees for an organisation.

End to end internal recruiters are responsible for identifying a staffing need within a company, advertising the position and sourcing suitable candidate(s) to fill the role(s). Typically this involves:

  • advertising the job, online or via another source
  • screening CVs
  • assessing candidates against a prescribed set of criteria
  • compiling a shortlist
  • co ordinating and arranging the interview process
  • negotiating employment terms with successful candidates
  • ensuring the assimilation of the new employees into the organisation, once they have commenced their new post

The Fit: What do I need to be a Recruitment specialist?

Recruiters need to have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with people at all levels. One day a recruiter may be sifting CVs of potential administrators, the next week liaising with the Head of HR to co ordinate interviews for a new director.

Recruiters also need to possess an excellent understanding of the needs of internal business stakeholders crafted through careful relationship management.

Recruiters provide a key service to the business by ensuring that high standards are adopted within all elements of the selection process. These high standards need to be maintained by ensuring consistency and responsiveness at every stage of the recruitment process.
